FORT YATES, ND, May 19, 2011 /Leisure and Recreation PR News/ -- Clyde C. Naasz, Assistant Superintendent of Standing Rock/Fort Yates Community School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in school administration.
Mr. Naasz has 34 years of professional experience and specializes in grant writing. Since 2002, he has been the assistant superintendent of Standing Rock/Fort Yates Community School. For the past six years, Mr. Naasz and his school have been operating under a joint powers school system agreement, which allows both district and state goals to be met. In his position, he writes all grants for the school district, which includes Title I grants, and oversees 50 state and federal programs. Mr. Naasz wrote and currently directs the Night Light Program grant, which provides worthwhile after-school activities for students. The program has been extremely successful with more than 500 members.
In 1996, Mr. Naasz completed a specialist degree in school district administration at the University of South Dakota. He holds a Master of Science in secondary administration from Northern State University and is pursuing a doctorate. Through his desire to help students, he is a member of the Exemplary Institute's advisory board in Albuquerque, N.M., Missouri River Educational Cooperative's employee and manage resources committees, and the director's committee of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
Mr. Naasz also belongs to the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools and Phi Delta Kappa International. He supports the March of Dimes Foundation and is on the advisory board of Catching the Dream, a Native American scholarship fund. Looking toward the future, Mr. Naasz hopes to have optional dorms built for students with a commute of more than one hour.
The Standing Rock/Fort Yates Public School has seen major changes in its students' reading abilities and high school graduation rates through the newly implemented Read Right Program. Between the school years of 2004 and 2005, there were 32 graduates; between 2005 and 2006, 44 graduates; and between 2006 and 2007, 59 graduates.
